The
Adelaide Cycling Club (formerly Eastern Districts) was established
in 1954 by a small breakaway group of riders and since then has
grown to be one of Adelaide`s prominent amateur clubs.
Along the way it has played a vital role in producing some of
the most successful and exciting cyclists that this, and in fact
other countries have seen.
Some of our successful cyclists have been, Brett Aitken (2000
Olympic Games Champion), Luke Kuss and Mathew Sparnon ( World
Junior Team Pursuit Champions), Vicki Birks (World Masters Track
Champion) and Alayna Burns (1998 Commenwealth Games Champion).
The Club places a high priority on the Development of young riders
and considers it`s riders to be it`s main asset. Allan Smith (deceased)
one of Adelaide`s longest serving presidents devoted many years
in aiding the development of Junior cycling in South Australia.
